Big teams bound for Aussie Youth Olympics

A record number of athletes from China and Great Britain will compete in the 2007 Australian Youth Olympic Festival as they prepare their young athletes for the Beijing and London Olympics. China is sending 294 athletes to the Festival in Sydney in January, their biggest team ever. Great Britain is sending 150 athletes, also their biggest AYOF team. Australia will have by far the biggest contingent, 587 athletes. The fourth festival will be conducted in Sydney from January 17- 21 featuring a total of 2,200 athletes from 23 countries competing in 16 sports.
