In a series of performances that did not quite live up to expectations, Ben Sim has produced the best result at the World Junior/Under 23 Cross Country Championships. Sim finished in 37th place in the U23 15km freestyle, 3 minutes and 39 seconds behind race winner Dario Cologna of Switzerland. The Cooma 21-year-old was 25 seconds outside the top 30, one of the goals going into the race.

In a series of performances that did not quite live up to expectations, Ben Sim has produced the best result at the World Junior/Under 23 Cross Country Championships.

Sim finished in 37th place in the U23 15km freestyle, 3 minutes and 39 seconds behind race winner Dario Cologna of Switzerland.

The Cooma 21-year-old was 25 seconds outside the top 30, one of the goals going into the race.

Sim also placed 48th in the men's classic sprint and a disappointing 51st in the 30km pursuit, his body showing the signs of a long campaign.

In the junior events, Aimee Watson's best was 63rd in the sprint, while Alex Almoukov's highest placing was 79th in the men's sprint.
