ABOUT RYAN

Ryan started archery in 2000 as a nine-year-old and went on to make his junior debut in 2003. He was without a coach for his first Youth National Championships, so on short notice, his mum learnt how to repair his equipment and stepped in as coach.

On the cusp of making the Australian Team for the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics, Ryan didn’t lose hope and made his Olympic debut at Rio 2016 where he won Australia’s first ever medal in the men’s team event, winning bronze with Alec Potts and Taylor Worth. Ryan then competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games where he placed 17th in the men’s recurve.
