Shannan first got into boxing at the age of 13 when his older brother got him to give the sport a try. A few years later he moved to Bundaberg in an effort to be in an area that had a dedicated boxing academy.
The boy from Narrabri in New South Wales represented Australia at the 2023 World Championships in Uzbekistan and is working towards a personal goal of representing Australia at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
