Brenna Kean was initially a competitive swimmer and cross-fit competitor before switching to weightlifting in 2018.
After competing in her first club competition in 2021, she made her Commonwealth Games debut at Birmingham in 2022 where she placed fifth in the women's 59kg clean and jerk. The full-time paramedic attempted lifting 114kg in the clean & jerk to move into a medal position, which would have beat her personal best by 6kg, but failed to lift the bar.
