Rockhampton born and bred Sarah started in gymnastics when she was young, competing until she was 17 before relocating with her family to Townsville in 2008. After several years, she was introduced to weightlifting through CrossFit where she met her coach Bryce Knight, competing in her first event in early 2018 and making her first Australian team after only five competitions.
Sarah narrowly missed selection for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but went on to win silver in the women's 64kg at her Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham during 2022, behind two-time defending champion and reigning Olympic champion Maude Charron of Canada.
