The 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games will take place in Dakar, Senegal, from 31 October to 13 November 2026. This will be a first for the African continent.
Dakar 2026 will be the first edition of the Youth Olympic Games to benefit from a new approach to its sports programme.
25 sports are included in the competition programme and an additional 10 will be part of a new "mobilisation programme," which aims to generate interest and encourage participation in the host country and region by allowing young people to discover the practice of these sports, instead of being spectators.
The 25 'competitive' sports are Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball 5, Boxing, Breaking, Cycling, Fencing, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Horse Riding, Judo, Rowing, Rugby, Struggle, Swimming, Skateboarding, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Triathlon, Veil, Volleyball and Wushu.
The 10 'commitment' sports are Canoe, Sport Climbing, Golf, Weightlifting, Hockey, Karate, Modern Pentathlon, Surfing, Tennis and Shooting.
Australia are competing in 16 sports; Archery, Badminton, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Cycling - Road, Equestrian, Fencing, Gymnastics - Artistic, Judo, Rowing - Coastal Beach Sprints, Rugby 7s, Sailing, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Triathlon.
