Joey started skiing when he was three, after his family moved to Thredbo permanently. At ten years old he started slopestyle skiing, quickly developing a love for the sport.
In 2023, Joey competed at the FIS Junior World Championships in Cardrona, NZ where he made the finals, finishing in eighth place in big air. If there was one piece of advice he would give his younger self it would be not to stress about results, to just keep working hard and know they will come.
