CROSS COUNTRY: Australian Cross Country athlete Aimee Watson has pulled out of the 7.5km Skiathlon on Saturday as she aims to recover from a broken toe.
Watson broke her toe in an unfortunate incident packing up at the team’s pre-Olympic camp in Davos, Switzerland.
The 26 year-old and her coaches made the decision after consulting with team doctor Larissa Trease.
The injury, which occurred ten days ago, has continued to progress and the Olympic debutant has been able to train skate style of the past three days.
Watson is hoping to begin training Classic style in the next couple of days as she approaches the 10km Classic.
Aimee's brother Callum and fellow teammate Phil Bellingham will now kick off Australia’s Cross Country campaign on Sunday in the 15km Skiathlon.
