The Australian Olympic Committee is pleased to support the nomination of Andrew Hoy's Olympic mount, Vassily De Lassos', for the EquiRating's Horse of the Year Award for 2021.
Together Andrew Hoy and Vassily de Lassos were part of the Silver Medal winning Eventing Team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where they also won the Eventing Individual Bronze Medal. The pair were the only combination out of 60 teams to not concede any penalties after the Dressage.
Vassily’s stellar performance in Tokyo saw Andrew take his Olympic medal tally to a stunning six, making him Australia’s oldest Olympic medallist.

The Jaguar Mail x Jalienny breed joined the Hoy team in 2017 and has proven himself to be truly one of a kind.
Vassily is one of only seven horses in contention for the prestigious award and is the ONLY horse representing Australia to be nominated. This marks Vassily’s third nomination for the Horse of the Year Award.
The award will be decided purely on public votes, so we would like to encourage everyone to please share this fantastic competition as far and wide as possible.
Voting is open now and will close at midnight 20th December 2021.
