The AOC has congratulated dual Olympian Sarah Cook on her appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Rowing Australia.

The Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympian, who begins the role in July, is currently Chief Operating Officer at Rowing Australia ad also sits as the Oceania representative on the
World Rowing Council.

AOC Chief Executive Officer Matt Carroll says Ms Cook’s appointment is great news for the sport, which picked up two gold and two bronze medals at Tokyo 2020.

“It’s wonderful to see such a well credentialled and experienced Olympian appointed to the role ahead of a strong field, in such an exciting time for the sport.

“Her knowledge of high performance sport and experience in sport management will be critical for steering Rowing through the Paris 2024 campaign and leading the sport as we look to LA 2028 and ultimately our home Games in Brisbane 2032.

“Sarah has more than two decades involvement as an athlete and coach - plus being an administrator from club to international level. That’s a rare feat, combined with the fact she has also represented her country in sailing and been a director of Baseball Australia.

“The AOC wishes Sarah all the best in her new role, and we look forward to working with her and her team.

“I would also like to pay tribute to Ian Robson who has worked tirelessly in the position over recent years. The results in Tokyo are testament to Ian’s energy foresight and professionalism,” Mr Carroll concluded.
