The Australian Open Women’s team, Aussie Spirit, have won their fourth game at the ISF Women’s World Championship defeating Botswana 9-0 in Beijing, China on Wdnesday.

The Aussie Spirit batters performed well against the slow pitching Botswana team with Stacey Porter and Kylie Cronk scoring in the bottom of the first to take Australia to a 2-nil lead.

Australia took a further three point lead in the bottom of the second with Kate Quigley, Amanda Doman and Danica Howlett scoring.

In the bottom of the third, the Aussie Spirit batters were on the attack again with Simmone Morrow, Quigley and Doman all crossing the home plate.

Marissa Carpadios sealed the game in the bottom of the fourth with a home run over the fence to take Australia to a 9-nil lead.

Australia’s pitcher Kelly Gentle kept Botswana batters at bay with eight strike-outs, allowing only one hit in the five innings of play.

Australia leads the results table in Pool B with Japan a close second.

Australia, USA, Japan and China are so far unbeaten. The first four teams qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games with this tournament an Official Test Event being staged in the recently completed venue for the Beijing Olympics.

Australia plays Venezuela at 5.30pm (AEST) on Thursday.
