Australia have announced two more basketball teams to take part in the 3 on 3 basketball competition at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in January.
Four men and four women have been added to the already announced teams after the Hungarian sides pulled out of the competition.
Proving Australia’s depth in the sport is extremely promising, the teams named feature Annie Blackburn, Victoria Unicomb, Kate Hewett and Geremy McKay who have all recently been a part of U17 Australian squads in the conventional five a side game.
The 3 on 3 competition is set to be one of the highlights of the Festival with the high intensity format featuring three athletes on each side playing on a half-court with only one substitute and a single ten minute period.
The competition will take place at Sydney’s iconic Darling Harbour with Australia welcoming a host of strong teams from New Zealand, Great Britain, China, Japan and a combined Oceania team.
The AYOF will feature 30 nations competing in 17 sports and will take place throughout Sydney from January 16-20.
