COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2018: The Australian Team has been dominating the 2018 Commonwealth Games on home soil on the Gold Coast.
While there have been an immense number of achievements so far, here are a select few featuring Aussie Olympic athletes:
Australia won its 100th Commonwealth Games gold medal on day 2 after Rio Olympian Stephanie Morton won the women's track cycling Sprint event ahead of New Zealand’s Natasha Hansen in second and compatriot Kaarle McCulloch in third.
13 records were broken in track cycling during the 2018 Commonwealth Games.The only standing record is Anna Meares' 500m Time Trial record set in 2014.
Australia won its first medal trifecta in the men's 50m Backstroke with Mitch Larkin claiming the gold, Benjamin Treffers winning silver and Zac Incerti rounding out the podium with bronze. The Aussie girls replicated this impressive feat in both the 50m and 100m Butterfly finals. Australia also filled the podium in the men's SB8 100m Breaststroke final.
Reigning Olympic Champions Emma Mckeon, Bronte Campbell and Cate Campbell smashed their very own world record with teammate Shayna Jack in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay on the opening night of the Commonwealth Games.
Cate and Bronte Campell also became the first sisters to take gold and silver in the same Commonwealth Games race. Cate won the 50m Freestyle in a Games record-breaking time of 23.78 seconds, while Bronte tied in second place with Canada's Taylor Ruck.
Rio Olympian Tia-Clair Toomey, who was crowned "the Fittest Woman on Earth" after taking out the 2017 World CrossFit Games, added a Commonwealth Games gold medal to her list of accolades after lifting a personal best of 114kg in the clean jerk for a winning total of 201kg in the women's 58kg weightlifting event.
It was a dual gold medal performance for Australia in the first athletics event on day 4. Rio bronze medalist Dane Bird-Smith broke a 12-year Commonwealth Games record in the men's 20km racewalk final, while 20-year-old Jemima Montag also claimed the gold in the women's event.
Australian Winter Olympian Emily Rosemond became the first female derny rider at an international competition in Australia. Rosemond competed in the Torino 2006 Winter Olympics in short track speed skating. She then pursued a different sporting path, winning a track cycling bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the sprint event, before taking on her new cycling role as the pace setter in the velodrome.
Australia is currently topping the medal standings with over 80 medals, with plenty more action still to come.
