Aussies miss out in US halfpipe qualification

Holly Crawford and Nathan Johnstone have both been eliminated in the qualifying round of the US Snowboarding Grand Prix championships in Copper Mountain, Colorado. Crawford was the best of the OWI halfpipe duo, riding to a best result of 35.20 points for 13th place, while Johnstone ended in 35th position in the men’s event with 37.60 points.

Holly Crawford and Nathan Johnstone have both been eliminated in the qualifying round of the US Snowboarding Grand Prix championships in Copper Mountain, Colorado.

Crawford was the best of the OWI halfpipe duo, riding to a best result of 35.20 points for 13th place, while Johnstone ended in 35th position in the men’s event with 37.60 points.

Leading qualifiers in the men’s event were Finnish riders Janne Korpi on 45.50 points and Antti Autti on 45.00, while a US trio led the women’s qualification round – Kelly Clark on 44.80 points, Elena Hight on 43.50 and Gretchen Bleiler on 43.20.

Jarryd Williams was the best of the other Australians competing, placing 55th on 34.10 points,

The final of both events will be held Sunday afternoon.
