Demian Franzen and Bryce Stevens have both missed out on finishing the giant slalom at the World Alpine Championships in Are, Sweden. Franzen went out in the first run, which Stevens finished in a time of one minute 13.36 seconds, 3.92 seconds behind first run leader Daniel Albrecht of Switzerland. The New South Wales skier's brother Hugh was 2.77 seconds further back in 49th position.

The New South Wales skier's brother Hugh was 2.77 seconds further back in 49th position.
 
In the second run, it was Bryce Stevens turn to go out before the finish line, leaving his younger brother as the sole Australian to finish the event, in a total time of on minute 15.67 seconds, 12.16 seconds behind gold medal winner Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway.
