VOLLEYBALL: The Australian men's volleyball team has levelled the three-match series against China win an impressive 3-0 win in Brisbane.
Led by another impressive performance from new captain, Tom Edgar, and MVP Tom Douglas-Powell, the Volleyroos made short work of a Chinese side that will be vying with Australia for an Olympics berth next year.
Australia showed no ill-effects from its 3-2 loss to China 24 hours earlier, racing to a 25-20 first set win.
24 hours earlier Australia had allowed China back into the match after taking the first set, but on Saturday there was no opening for the visiting side, with the Volleyroos taking the second set 25-18.
But the Australians then took their foot off the pedal, allowing China to race out to a seven point lead in the third.
But after a straight-talking timeout called by new coach Roberto Santilli, the Volleyroos lifted a level, clawing their way back into the set off the back of some strong Greg Sukochev serving.
China had no answers for a rampant Australia, eventually losing the final set 25-20.
The two teams head to Canberra for the third and final match of the series on Tuesday night.
