As a whole, the team’s best performances came in the 500m, with Alex McEwan, Mark McNee and Elliot Shriane all making it through the preliminary rounds into the first heat.
Unfortunately all three missed out on places in the quarter finals, with McEwan placing 24th, McNee 25th and Shriane 27th.
Mark McNee was the best of the OWI athletes in the 1500m, finishing in 23rd place, while Alex McEwan again topped the Australian results in the 1000m, making it through the preliminary round as far as the heats, and ending in 28th place.
In the 5000m relay, the team placed third in its heat behind Korea and Great Britain, missing a place in the semi-finals, and placing ninth overall.
The World Cup was dominated by Korean skater Hyun-Soo Ahn who won all four individual events, and led the Korean team to victory in the relay.
US skater Apolo Anton Ohno collected silver medals in the 400m, 1000m, and 1500m and bronze in the 3000m.
