Australia will be a keen participant in the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010 but not the host.

Since the decision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to endorse the Youth Olympic Games the AOC Executive has considered all of the issues relevant to an Australian bid and resolved not to entertain a bid for this first edition.

The main obstacle is that the Games have been set down to take place for eleven to twelve days of competition during the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th weeks of August and that international standard venues would have to be provided for all of the 26 sports that are on the London 2012 program.

After we have experienced the first Youth Olympic Games in 2010 we can review the decision.
