Ashleigh Barty of Australia kisses the trophy as she celebrates victory following the ladies singles final against Marketa Vondrousova of The Czech Republic during Day fourteen of the 2019 French Open at Roland Garros

The Barty fever is particularly high among the Australian Olympic family, with Aussie Olympians and National Sporting Federations supporting Australia’s 17th female Grand Slam champion.

TENNIS: The name Ash Barty is on everyone’s lips today after the 23-year-old won her first singles Grand Slam title at the French Open overnight, defeating Czech Marketa Vondrousova 6-1 6-3.

Barty is the first Australian to win a major singles title since four-time Olympian Sam Stosur won the US Open in 2011. She’s also the first Aussie to win the Roland Garros French Open since Margaret Court in 1973.

The hashtag #BartyParty has gone viral on social media, with athletes, celebrities, politicians and fans all sending their congratulations to the young tennis superstar.

Barty was feeling the love from The Matildas, who are also in France about to kick-start their Women's World Cup campaign.
