Badminton begins group stage

HAVE A GO AT OLYMPIC SPORTS
BADMINTON: Day one of the Youth Olympics Games (YOG) saw two of our young athletes take to the court in the first round of the knock out stage of Badminton.
Daniel Guda and Joy Lai both played their first round matches but went down to their respective combatants.
Lai faced Indonesian Ruselli Hartawan in group B but dropped both sets 21-13, 22-20.
Guda sits in group G of the Men’s competition and met Cheuk Yiu Lee from Hong Kong. Unfortunately, similar to his Aussie Team mate, he dropped straight sets 12-21, 14-21 giving his opponent the victory.
Despite not getting off to an ideal start both Guda and Lai still have two more group matches to play as they fight to gain enough points to the one who will advance past the group stage and into the quarter-finals and a chance at a medal.
More to come shortly...
