Queensland kayaking duo Bill Bain and Jordan Wood have continued their winning streak placing first and second respectively in the MK1 1000m.

CANOE/KAYAK - SPRINT: Queensland kayaking duo Bill Bain and Jordan Wood have continued their winning streak, placing first and second respectively in the final of the MK1 1000m.

Following up from their win on Wednesday morning in the MK2 1000m with a time of 3:25.02, the boys are showing extreme talent and potential within the canoeing/kayaking world.

Bain, 18, who topped the male rankings at the AYOF selection event – Canoeing Australia GP1 – is looking to continue his successful run throughout the week.

“Tomorrow I’ve got the K2 200m and then the head to head race on Friday. I’ve just got to get through the rounds and hopefully get to the finals.”

The Australian boys team is showcasing real strength throughout the field, with Sean Lohse coming fifth and Peter Elford placing eigth in the MK1 1000m.

“It was a good race, 1000m is a fairly long distance and we’ve got some good depth in the under 18 boys from the Australian team,” Bain said.

Bain and Wood are no strangers to competing against each other, with a long history of friendly rivalry between them.

“(We’ve had) a long rivalry over the last couple of years and I’m sure it’ll continue in the next couple of years, training and racing.”

Canoe/Kayak - Sprint continues on Thursday morning at 9am with the WK2 200m.
