BEACH VOLLEYBALL: Our dynamic beach volleyball team has bounced back to its best form at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.

Following two consecutive defeats, a determined Australian outfit took to the sand for the first time in daytime against Vanuatu combination Loti/Floflo.

Phoebe Bell and Brittany Kendall played consistently the entire game to take the match 21-13 21-6.

" It was hot out there, but we're really happy with how we played. It was really awesome to get a win on the board,” Kendall said.

The girls attacked well to take the first set, and were unrelenting in the second.

"Getting a win it’s a good confidence boost," Bell commented, noting the business end of the competition has arrived.

Bell-Kendall will play their final round robin pool match at 8pm Nanjing time tomorrow night against Puerto Rican pair Bernier/Cajigas.

Both teams have two wins and two losses to their name, and will progress out of the preliminary phases as the third and fourth sides in the pool depending on the result tomorrow. The next stage is a single-elimination round of 24 format.

"We play Puerto Rico tomorrow night and if we win that game we will be third in our pool," Bell explained.

As to what will help them win the match?

"We need to have our best serving, be aggressive and be on target," Kendall said.

"And stick to our game plan," Bell added.

This is the first time Beach Volleyball has been contested at the Youth Olympic Games.
