BASKETBALL: The in-form Australian Men's Basketball team will head into its final pool game against Germany concentrating on what has worked for them so far in wins over Nigeria and Italy.
“Defence has been a focus of this basketball team, to go somewhere this team has not been in the past,” coach Brian Goorjian said.
The task has become a little tougher with an injury to Aron Baynes who is now out for the remainder of the Olympic Games. The Toronto Raptors star has been ruled out with a neck injury that he suffered in the win against Italy.

“Aron is a big part of our team,” Goorjian added.
“We are hurting for him, but we have great depth in our squad, and I have every confidence in the remaining 11 players, we are focused on the task ahead.”
“We've got Baynesy's back,” Patty Mills said from the heart.
“We'll cover for him.”
Baynes himself, obviously shattered by the news, thanked everyone for their support adding green and gold love hearts.

The setback won't stop the Boomers as their campaign continues against the Germans, another strong opponent who will be looking to give the Australian’s a reality check after losing to Italy but beating Nigeria.
If the Boomers can come out strong from the opening minutes, the Aussies should be able to hold back the Germans, who currently sit 17th in the world FIBA rankings. Turning to tonight's game coach Goorjian said it's simple.
“I want this team to just keep getting better like they did from the first win over Nigeria to the victory over Italy with far less turnovers in particular.”
“I have every confidence in this playing group.” Mills added.

“Our focus will not waiver as we strive for that Olympic gold medal.”
The Boomers play Germany at 6.20pm tonight AEST. Watch live on 7plus.
