Jono Brauer has taken another step toward Olympic representation, securing the second of three top 80 per cent results he needs to be considered for selection to the Torino 2006 team.
Brauer placed 64th in the first run of the World Cup slalom in the Slovenian resort of Kranjska Gora, 3.74 seconds behind the fastest man down the hill, Benjamin Raich of Austria.
Team-mate Brad Wall was five places further back, unfortunately missing what would have been his third top 80 per cent slalom result.
Italian skier Giorgio Rocca went on to win the event after Raich failed to finish his second run.
Rocca now has three victories from three events this season and a 140 point lead on the World Cup slalom standings.
There are two more slalom events for Brauer and Wall to post qualifying results, one in Wengen on January 15 and the other in Kitzbuhel on January 22, two days before the Australian Olympic Committee's qualification deadline.
