The World Super Pipe Championships Pro event was held in Park City, Utah, over the weekend, with Torah Bright and Andrew Burton the two Australian riders in the high class field. OWI halfpipe coach Ben Wordsworth reports on the best halfpipe comp he has ever seen:

Today was the best women’s riding I have seen in halfpipe to date, with the top girls stepping it up with huge frontside 5s,7s and now 900s. Hannah Teter had a near perfect run with only one straight air. Her combination of spins and her very technical front 9 with a grab was impossible to beat today.

Gretchen Bleiler and Elana Hight also pushed the women’s level, doing frontside 900s in their run. All much fun to watch.

And the men? Well, there was everything from back to back 1080s to some of the biggest airs I have seen in a pipe.

Keir Dillon took out the men’s comp with some of the biggest Mctwist, smooth frontside spins and backside 9 combos in his run that I have ever seen.

Andrew Burton had some trouble putting a run together early in the competition, but managed a very smooth run on his final ride to finish in 10th place.

Torah Bright was riding well in practice but sketched on her first couple of runs in the event. She managed to get her last run smooth but it was not enough to get her onto the podium. Torah finished in fourth place, still a good result.
