SNOWBOARD-SLOPESTYLE: Torah Bright is in sixth place following the first run of the Slopestyle gold medal event at the Sochi Olympic Winter Games.
All 12 finalists will have one more run on the course with each athletes’ best score counting towards the final placings.
Riding ninth out of the 12 finalists, Bright lost points when she put her hand down when landing her first of three big jumps. She also lost speed which impacted her next two. Her rail section at the top of the course was impressive.
Her score of 64.75 at Extreme Park, trails Sarka Pancochova of the Czech Republic (86.25). American Jamie Anderson (80.75) is currently second and 77.25 points has Swiss rider Sina Candrian in the bronze medal position.
Expect some changes in the second run. Canadian World Champion Spencer O’Brien had a first run to forget (30.00) and you would expect her to challenge the podium if she can execute her run.
Bright scored 85.25 in qualification on Thursday to progress straight to the final.
