Brisbane's biggest corporate event to fund Olympic Team
Plans are underway for Brisbane’s biggest corporate event to raise funds for our Olympic Athletes.

QOC: Plans are well underway for Queensland’s first Olympic gala event to celebrate our athletes and raise much needed funds to support their journey to Rio.

Queensland and Australia have a long and proud history with the Olympic Games. Queenslanders have competed upon the Olympic stage since 1904 at the St Louis Olympic Games, while Australia is one of only two nations to have competed in every modern Olympic Games.

The Queensland Premier’s Athletes Farewell Dinner will be held at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane on Saturday 21st May 2016. This fundraising dinner will assist in the preparation and participation of Australian athletes for the Olympic team.

The biggest show in the world is on next August with the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro.

The dinner is billed to be one of the most significant corporate dinners ever held in Queensland.

Continuing the well-established Australian tradition of enlisting the support of the corporate sector, governments and the community at large for our Olympians, the organizing committee hope to reach a figure in excess of $1 Million with funds going directly to the Australian Olympic Team.

This is all coming together at the same time as a ground swell of support for Brisbane and the Region bidding for the 2028 Olympic Games.

Olympic swimmer and Chairman of the Queensland Olympic Appeal, Mark Stockwell says “Support of this dinner is an important way for corporate Queensland to show the politicians and the Olympic movement support for the Brisbane Bid. This Bid is another stepping stone for Brisbane becoming a world class city. I hope that corporates will get behind our athletes by attending this event and showing the world that Brisbane means business.”
