Burton grabbed the last place in the ten-man final on Friday – his 29th birthday - with a strong 38.4 point first run, but was unable to reproduce that form in the final, registering a top points score of 19.4 in the two-run decider.
Leading qualifier Steven Fisher of the United States went on to win the event from Jan Michaelis of Germany and Kim Christiansen of Norway.
The other OWI athlete competing, Ben Mates, finished in 70th place.
The women’s event was won by Hannah Teter of the United States, with Doriane Vidal of France taking the silver medal and Soko Yamaoka of Japan collecting bronze.
Teter, the world junior champion in 2002, has now won four of the seven World Cup events she has contested.
The World Cup Halfpipe season now takes a break until December 10th in Avoriaz.
