Sean Carlow finished in 20th position after his Group A qualifying free skate at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships in The Hague, Netherlands.

Evan Lysacek of the United States led the Group A field from Andrei Griazev of Russia and Kazumi Kishimoto of Japan. Alban Preaubert of France topped the second qualifying group.

Carlow missed out on a place in the 31-man field that progressed to the short program.

In the Ice Dancing, the young Australian pair of Gabrielle Biffin and Tye Nagy finished in 14th place in their group in the first two compulsory dances of the Ice Dancing competition.

Biffin, 14, and Nagy, who turns 17 later this month, were competing in their first World Championships.

Nora Hoffman and Attila Elek of Hungary and Elena Romanovskaya and Alexander Grachev of Russia were the leaders of the two groups of 14 skaters in the compulsories, with all competititors going on to the Original Dance

Australia’s representative in the Ladies, Emilia Ahsan, will skate in the qualifying round tonight, Wednesday March 3.
