Sean Carlow has skated to the best World Championship result of his career, finishing in 28th place in the short program in Tokyo. Carlow scored 49.75 points, missing a place in the 24-man free program, but surpassing his 32nd place at last year's event.

Carlow scored 49.75 points, missing a place in the 24-man free program, but surpassing his 32nd place at last year's event.

French skater Brian Joubert won the men's title with a total score of 240.85 points from Daisuke Takahashi of Japan on 237.95 points and Stephane Lambiel of Switzerland on 233.35.

Jo Carter will skate the short program of the ladies' event on Friday night March 23.
