Organisers of the 2008 Beijing Olympics will launch a recruiting drive this summer for 100,000 volunteer helpers.
The Beijing Organising Committee for the 2008 Olympics says 70,000 will serve the 2008 Summer Olympics and 30,000 the Paralympics, Xinhua news agency reported.
Recruiting will begin in August, it said. "People who are interested can submit applications via the Internet," committee official Li Shixin was quoted as saying.
China has also embarked on a series of huge infrastructure projects to ensure the capital is a national showcase when it hosts the Games.
Aside from the millions being spent on sporting stadia, it has reportedly allocated $US35 billion ($A46.74 billion) for infrastructure spending covering projects such as new roads, subways and airport terminals.
