GOLF: Australia’s Brett Coletta and Marcus Kinhult (SWE) are tied for first place after shooting six-under rounds of 66 on day one of the men's golfing competition at the Zhongshan International Golf Club on Tuesday.
"I can take a lot of positives out of today, a lot are skill based positives that I can take into the rest of the week," Coletta said.
Kinhult (SWE), the highest ranked golfer at Nanjing 2014 at No.8 in the amateur rankings (WAGR), and Coletta are one stroke ahead of Denthai Boonma (THA) who sits in third place after carding a 67.
Sixteen players shot below par in round one of the men's competition but British open junior champion Kevin LE BLANC (IRL) was not one of them. He carded a two-over 74 and already lies eight shots behind the leaders.
In the women’s competition, Virginia Elena Carta (ITA), Cheng Ssu-Chia (TPE), Lee Soyoung (KOR) and Maria SHINOHARA (JPN) are all tied for the lead after shooting three-under rounds of 69.
The four leaders sit one shot ahead of Elizabeth Emlassian (AUS) and Julianne Alvarez (NZL) who recorded rounds of 70.
The second round of the individual golf events will begin at 08:30 on Wednesday 20 August.
