Olympians once again returned to Australian classrooms in February to deliver engaging Olympics Unleashed visits, and aspiring Olympians in New South Wales were buoyed by the introduction of Australian Olympic Pathway Schools.
Australian Olympic Pathway Schools
New South Wales' next generation of potential Olympians received a boost with the announcement that seven Sports High Schools have been designated as Australian Olympic Pathway Schools.
The partnership will support these schools in their endeavour to develop future Australian Olympians, while allowing talented NSW athletes to progress both their sporting and academic careers.
In addition, the NSW Government confirmed a $1.5 million boost to extend the successful “Olympics Unleashed” school program until 2026, aimed at supporting students through the power of sport.
QLD students inspired through Olympics Unleashed
Some special Olympics Unleashed visits across Queensland created an inspirational start to Term 1 for students.
Taekwondo athlete Jessica Borg shared her Tokyo Olympic setbacks and motivation towards Paris 2024 with students at Baringa State Primary School, highlighting how students can overcome challenges they face in chasing their own goals.
Olympic swimmer Taylor McKeown encouraged students at Mater Dei Primary School in Ashgrove with her Olympic stories.
