June was jam-packed with Olympic Day activities across the country, a deep dive into the world of Athletics on episode 11 of Olympics Unleashed TV, our fourth Australian Olympic Pathway School formal assembly and some very special Olympics Unleashed visits by our Olympians.
Olympic-sized celebrations for Olympic Day!
Olympic Day was celebrated nation-wide on Friday 23 June, with Aussies of all ages encouraged to ‘Have a Go’ at an Olympic sport.
The Australian Olympic Committee hosted multiple events in the community, including special Olympics Unleashed visits and ‘Have a Go’ days in schools.
Olympians Zoe Buckman, Alex Ferlazzo, Brooke Muschkuehl, Natalie Burton, Alex Brosque, Josephine Bulmer, Holly Young, Savannah Fitzpatrick, Suzy Balogh and Nathan Katz visited 10 schools across the country on Olympic Day, sharing their Olympic experiences with students and facilitating some exciting ‘Have a Go’ sessions.
Australian Olympians were also out in force across social media sharing their own Olympic Day messages – see some of our favourites below!
Finally, to mark the announcement of our latest partnership with Nine, the Today Show highlighted our ‘Have a Go’ messaging with an Olympic Day themed live cross. During the segment, Today Show hosts Brooke Boney, Sarah Abo, and Tim Davies were put to the test live on-air, giving the Olympic sports of fencing and gymnastics a crack!

Westfield Sports High School formally recognised as an Australian Olympic Pathway School
Westfield Sports High School became the fourth NSW High School to be formally recognised as an Australian Olympic Pathway School during a special school assembly.
Three Olympic alumni, Heather Garriock, Alex Brosque and Shane Cansdell-Sheriff, joined NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Prue Carr and AOC CEO Matt Carroll for the announcement.
The Olympians shared their Olympic journeys - from the classrooms of Westfield Sports High School to competing on the world's greatest sporting stage!

Olympics Unleashed TV
Dual Olympian Matt Denny was joined by fellow athletics Olympians Ellie Beer, Liz Clay and Henry Frayne, as well as aspiring Olympian Naa Anang for episode 11 of Olympics Unleashed TV.
Throughout the episode, we hear from each of the athletes who share their unique insights into the world of athletics.
The students of Robertson State School were also taken through a physical challenge with Ellie Beer, followed by a deep dive into the sport of discus with Matt Denny.

Olympics Unleashed
Aussie Olympians wrapped up term 2 with some inspiring visits across schools and sporting events in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.

Basketball Olympians Marianna Tolo and Nick Kay, along with aspiring Olympian and Hockeyroo Zoe Newman attend the PSSA Basketball and Hockey Championships in Tamworth, NSW. You can read more about their visit here.
