NSWIS/SSA Mogul Development Team member Ramone Cooper has won his first Europa Cup Mogul Skiing medal, finishing in third place on day two of competition in Dolni Morava, Czech Republic.

NSWIS/SSA Mogul Development Team member Ramone Cooper has won his first Europa Cup Mogul Skiing medal, finishing in third place on day two of competition in Dolni Morava, Czech Republic.

The 17 year old from Cooma, NSW, qualified for the day two final in sixth place, and went on to post the equal highest turn points and second highest air points in the final to take out the bronze medal. The event was won by Finish skier Jusso Lahtela, with Thibaut Apertet of France in second. Tom Lovick was the next best placed Australian posting a personal best Europa Cup result of 18th. Robert Lovick and Emma Chapman-Davies were down on their day one performance finishing in 40th and 28th place respectively.

On day one, Cooper posted a fourth place qualifying result, but crashed out in the final to finish in eleventh place. Robert Lovick finished in 21st place with his brother Tom in 50th. Emma Chapman-Davies narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 12 skier final, finishing in 13th place.

NSWIS Head Coach Peter "Toppa" Topalovic commented after the race "the event was of a very high standard for Europa Cup, with over 75 male and 33 female competitors, competing on a tough and challenging course. Ramone has showed that he has the potential to win at the Europa Cup level, and his is a very exciting talent in the sport".

The team now has a small break, before one more event takes place in the same resort on the 25th of January.
