ROWING: London Games sensation Kim Crow has been pre-selected for this year's rowing world championships following her early 2013 success as a specialist single sculler.
Crow became the first woman in 20 years to win medals in both the single (bronze) and double sculls (silver) at last year's Olympics but will focus solely on the single in the build up to the 2016 Rio Games.
She produced a dominant row to comfortably win World Cup gold at Penrith Lakes a fortnight ago, three days after winning the national title, and is not required to trial for an Australian spot later this month.
Rowing Australia will now let Crow and her coach Lyall McCarthy to plan and prepare for the Holland Bekker Regatta in Amsterdam in late June 2013 before joining the rest of the Australian team at World Cup 3 in Lucerne, Switzerland from July 12-14.
Crow's main goal in 2013 is winning the world championships in Korea in late August.
"It will be good to now have a solid training block and to be able to focus on progressing further before I head overseas in a couple months and hopefully then race even better," Crow said.
Australia's senior, under-23, para rowing and junior teams will be finalised after the final national selection trials at the Sydney International Regatta Centre from April 21 to May 3.
