It's the final day of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and what a Games it has been. Catch Australians in the Marathon and in the velodrome as Australia make one final stand in Tokyo.
Athletics
With just one event on the schedule for the final day of Olympic athletics, Australia will be cheering at the top of its lungs for three runners. Jack Rayner, Liam Adams, and Brett Robinson will all take to the starting line in the Men’s Marathon set for an 8:00am AEST start. Adams ran in the event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games crossing the finish line in 31st. Robinson also competed in Rio but in the 5000m where he came in 14th. Rayner, who finished 13th in the 2018/19 London Marathon, will be making his Olympic debut. The Australians will be joined by 103 other runners.
Cycling - Track
The final medals are up for grabs at Izu Velodrome and the Aussies are hungry for gold. In the Men’s Keirin Matthew Richardson lines up in his Olympic quarter-final one with Matthew Glaetzer in quarter-final three at his third Games. Annette Edmondson, also in her third Olympic Games, will be in action in the Women’s Omnium having already placed Seventh in the Madison and fifth in the Team Pursuit in Tokyo. Racing gets underway at 11:00am AEST.
Closing Ceremony
The athletes will gather once more for the Closing Ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. After two weeks of fantastic celebration of global unity and feats of athletic excellence the Games that brought the world together once again will come to an end.
Olympic champion Mathew Belcher will lead the Australians as the Flag Bearer, joining the likes of Ian Thorpe, Kim Brennan, Dawn Fraser, and Eric Pearce in the history books. The Closing Ceremony will get underway at 9:00pm AEST.
