Luke Deane has followed up his impressive 30th place in super G at the 2005 World Alpine Skiing Championships in Bormio with further strong results in Europa Cup events in Italy and Germany.

Luke Deane has followed up his impressive 30th place in super G at the 2005 World Alpine Skiing Championships in Bormio with further strong results in Europa Cup events in Italy and Germany.

Oberjoch, Germany
In the giant slalom, Deane placed equal 16th, in a two run combined time of one minute 53.60 seconds, 1.56 seconds behind race winner Alberto Schieppati of Italy.

The New South Wales skier again finished ahead of higher ranked opponents including former World Champion Mario Matt of Austria.

Selle Nevea, Italy

In Selle Nevea, Deane completed the super-g event in 15th place. in a time of one minute 18.11 seconds, 2.09 seconds behind race winner Walter Girardi of Italy.

Among other racers, he finished ahead of Italian Mirko Deflorian, who has two top six World Cup giant slalom results to his credit this season, and one tenth of a second behind Austrian Christoph Kornberger, the gold medallist in downhill and silver medallist in super G in Megeve last week.

Deane will ski the Kranjska Gora World Cup giant slalom on February 26.
