En Route to Paris 2024: Trampolinists begin World Championships for Paris quotas, top judokas compete on home soil and more

Artistic Gymnastics - Trampoline - 37th FIG World Championships

Aussies trampolinists have landed in Birmingham, United Kingdom to compete at the World Championships from Thursday 9th November to Sunday 12th November.

It's the first chance for these athletes to earn quota spots for next year's Olympic Games, with the top eight placed athletes per gender earning a place at Paris 2024.

Judo - Perth Oceania Open

The next stop on the International Judo Federation's (IJF) tour is Western Australia, with the Perth Oceania Open on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th November. Approximately 320 competitors from 67 countries will compete in the senior competition, with 20 Aussies ready to rumble.


Olympians and no. 1 seeds Katharina Haecker (-63kg) and Aoife Coughlan (-70kg) are set to headline the competition.

Sailing - 2023 European Championships

A small but strong team of Aussie sailors have headed to Vilamoura, Portugal to compete from Wednesday the 8th to Monday 13th November in the 2023 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 European Championships.

After finishing 20th at the World Championships, the 49erFX team of Laura Harding and Annie Wilmot are hopeful to perform strongly amongst the world's best.

The event doubles as an Olympic qualifying event for European nations, however Australia have already secured their quota position at next year's Olympic Games thanks to Olivia Price and Evie Haseldine's bronze finish at the World Championships in the Netherlands.

The Australian 49er and Nacra 17 teams have an opportunity to claim quota spots at the upcoming Sail Sydney Oceania qualifiers later this year from 11-17 December.

Tennis - ATP Finals

The Aussie doubles duo of Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler are set to compete at the 2023 ATP Finals in Turin, Italy from Sunday 12th to Sunday 19th November.

Rinky and Jason started this year's season ranked no. 278 and 165 and after a cracking season are now ranked no. 23 and 27 in the world, respectively.

The pair are only the third all-Australian team to qualify for the ATP Finals in the last 20 years.

Also competing in the ATP Doubles Finals, and making their debut at the season finale event, is Matt Ebden and his partner Rohan Bopanna (IND).

Tennis - Billie Jean King Cup

Australia's women's tennis team are in Seville, Spain to compete for the Billie Jean King Cup.


After a loss to Slovenia, the Australian team of Kimberly Birrell, Storm Hunter, Daria Saville, Ellen Perez and Ajla Tomljanovic are set to take on the Kazakhstani side in a must-win match tonight, Thursday 9th November at 8pm AEDT.

2023 Pacific Games, Solomon Islands

The 2023 Pacific Games kick off on Sunday 19th November in Honiara, Solomon Islands. 72 Australian athletes are set to compete across Athletics, Archery, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Judo, Sailing, Taekwondo, and Weightlifting.

The Games are also an Oceania qualifying event for archery and boxing athletes hoping to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
