The Australian junior women’s pistol team has made a positive start to competition on Day Four of the 2010 ISSF World Championships in Munich, Germany.

The Australian junior women’s pistol team has made a positive start to competition on Day Four of the 2010 ISSF World Championships in Munich, Germany.

Hayley Chapman, Emily Esposito and Kayla Tompkins are contesting the junior women’s sport pistol in their first action of the tournament and lined up this morning in the precision stage.

Chapman and Esposito shot in the first group and performed well, finding themselves ranked 6th and 11th after their round of 30 shots. Chapman hit a perfect 50 in her first 5 shots and maintained a high level of performance, finishing with a total of 284 at the end.

Esposito tallied rounds of 95, 94 and 94 to sit one point further back on 283.

Tompkins was up next, and featured as the youngest competitor of all nations in the sport pistol. The 15-year-old Katoomba resident showed experience beyond her years and shot rounds of 91,93 and 91, finishing with a score of 275.

The girls, following a short break, will then enter the rapid fire stage of the competition.
