SKELETON: Sochi 2014 Olympian, John Farrow has overcome selection disapopointment to claim a North American Cup victory in Park CIty.

After 37-year-old Farrow had recorded some solid performances on the World Cup circuit, he admitted he was disappointed to be selected to race in the North American Cup this week.

"I really wanted to continue building form and compete in Whistler [at the World Cup event] but our selections did not work out like that," Farrow said.

"I could have let it affect me but speaking to our AOC/OWIA performance manager Dale Chapman he put me straight and just reminded me a race is always a opportunity to build momentum."

Despite the North American Cup being considered a development circuit, Farrow knew the competition would still be strong with 30 athletes taking to the track in Park City, including some highly ranked Korean and American PyeongChang hopefuls.

"I had an extremely dialled first run putting me in to second place only 0.03 behind first.

"The athlete in front of me was a young slider and is extremely talented showing great development. I thought he may not handle the pressure of 1st place so I went conservative on my second run and it paid off as I jumped into first place by 0.25 seconds," Farrow said, who hopes to compete at his second Olympic Games in February 2018.

"I am happy with this race and want to continue the positive development towards February, plus it's a great feeling to have the flag raised, the anthem played and gold around your neck."

Farrow will head to Winterberg, Germany for his next competition where he will join his Aussie female counterpart, Jackie Narracott in another round of the World Cup circuit.
