Favourable tax ruling for Medal Incentive Funding payments

This week the Australian Tax Office issued a class ruling relating to payments made under the AOC Medal Incentive Funding program.

For all athletes it is a very important ruling and particularly for those athletes who are deemed to be not ‘professional’ athletes, as they will not be required to pay tax on these payments.

The ruling only applies to AOC Medal Incentive Funding Payments and each athlete will need to review the guidelines in the ruling and seek advice from their tax advisor.
