GYMNASTICS: Great Britain put up an excellent fight against rival China to win gold in the men’s artistic team event at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre on Friday evening.
Great Britain scored 250.050 points overall, with China claiming silver on 243.050.
The Chinese team finished with only three gymnasts after one got injured. It didn’t matter though, as the scoring system only includes the top three team members’ scores.
The Australian men’s team (Christopher Bacueti, Scott Brooks, Christopher Remkes, Trenten Wan) got bronze finishing with a score of 231.550.
Team GB supporters cheered vigorously as the men triumphed their way through floor, pommel, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar.
Britain’s Courtney Tulloch believes that his is one of the strongest teams out there.
“Nothing can break us,” the 17-year-old grinned.
“The whole team performed really well, going into it we were quite nervous, but we really wanted to put a lot of effort into it,” Tulloch said.
Tulloch alongside fellow teammates Dominick Cunningham, James Hall, and Nile Wilson will return to the Sports Centre on Sunday with confidence, for the men’s all–around and apparatus event.
