Greig claims 19th at Berlin World Cup
Australia’s Daniel Greig has opened the Speed Skating World Cup in Berlin with a 19th place finish in the 500m A Division event.

SPEED SKATING: Australia’s Daniel Greig has opened the Speed Skating World Cup in Berlin with a 19th place finish in the 500m A Division event.

The Sochi 2014 Olympian completed the course in 35.76 seconds to finish 0.93 seconds behind local winner Nico Ihle with Japan’s Yuma Murakami finishing in second and Jan Smeekens of the Netherlands in third.

Having begun the season in the B Division, recent strong performances have seen Greig push into the top division as he looks to break into the top ten.

That goal appears not far off for Gthe 25-year-old who recently recorded a time that would have seen him finish just outside the top five if he matched it in Berlin.

Greig will have another shot at pushing up the rankings when he hits the track for the 1000m A Division event on Saturday evening (AEDT).
