Ski and Snowboard Australia moguls skier Sam Hall has produced the best result of his short international career, finishing in 13th place in dual moguls at the FIS Freestyle World Championships in Inawashiro. Hall was the third skier out of the gate in the timed qualification run, earning 17.74 points from the judges, then stood back and watched as a large number of the 45-man field failed to master the difficult Japanese course.

One who did do enough to join him in the 16-man final was AIS skier Ramone Cooper, who scored 16.66 points for 15th place.

Both Australians faced tough finals assignments, however, Cooper going down to single moguls silver medallist Tapio Luusua of Finland in the round of 16 head-to-head heats, and Hall bowing out in the same round to world number three, Canadian skier Vincent Marquis.

World Cup leader Alexandre Bilodeau went on to take the dual moguls title from Japan’s Nobuyuki Nishi, with Luusua collecting the bronze after winning his consolation final against Marquis
