OWI snowboard cross athletes Damon Hayler and Alex Pullin are well placed to challenge for the podium in a World Cup in Arosa after finishing well inside the top ten in qualifying.
Hayler produced the third fastest time of the elimination round, recording 55.14 seconds in his best run to cross the line 0.42 seconds behind fastest qualifier and last season’s World Cup runner-up Stian Sivertzen of Norway.
Pullin was just three places further back in eighth place, 0.62 seconds behind the Norwegian.
Hayler finished in ninth place in the opening round of the season in Chapelco, Argentina, in September.
Ski and Snowboard Australia rider Charles Ferry finished in 59th place in the qualifying round, 4.65 seconds behind the leader, while team-mate Stephanie Hickey also missed a place in the finals, finishing in 32nd place in the women's event.
The final of the Arosa event will be held tonight (Saturday) Australian time.
