The host nation’s Guo Xinxin won the event, with team-mate Nina Li in second place. The result moved Li 20 points ahead of her Australian rival.
Guo Xinxin successfully landed two triple somersaults on her way to a score of 192.99 points and the gold. She was the only women in the final to attempt triples.
Nina Li scored 187.61 points with two triple twisting double somersaults for the silver and the World Cup lead, while Ierodiaconou scored 187.25 points from her two triple twisting double somersaualts.
Going into the event Li and Ierodiaconou were equal leaders in the chase for the season’s top ranking.
Li now leads the World Cup with 645 points from Ierodiaconou on 625. Guo Xinxin is third, well back on 329 points.
Jacqui Cooper continued her impressive comeback, placing sixth with a score of 174.74 for her double somersault routine, leaving her ranking at fourth in the world on 320 points.
Ierodiaconou finished the qualifying round in the lead with a score of 100.28 points, the highest score of any jump on the day. But a problem landing on her second jump saw the Melbourne skier slip to third place in the final results.
Fellow Flying Kangaroo team member Lainie Cole continued her impressive form to make the final 12 for the second week in a row. She finished in tenth place with 152.39 points.
The final Australian, Liz Gardner, missed the cut and finished in 17th place in a field of 29 competitors. Gardner is now ranked 11th in the world, with Cole’s ranking moving up to a career high 13th.
The aerials World Cup China leg continues with another round on February 12 at Changchun.
