In her first-ever marathon race, Jess Stenson (nee Trengove) achieved the Olympic qualifying standard with a time of 2:23.02 to qualify her for the London 2012 Olympics – where she placed 39th in a time of 2:31.17.

Four years later at Rio 2016, she placed 22nd with a time of 2:31.44, before standing on the podium with bronze at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The following year, Stenson gave birth to her first child, Billy, and put her expectations of a third Olympics at Tokyo 2020 on the backburner to focus on her family.

However, the delay to the Tokyo Games from July 2020 to 2021 has worked in Stenson’s favour and the 33-year-old is now working towards qualifying for Tokyo as she prepares to run her first marathon since giving birth to Billy.

She recently took over the @AUSOlympicTeam Instagram story to give followers an insight into her busy life.
