Tokyo 2020 gold medallists Jessica Fox and Cate Campbell have shared 2021 NSW Athlete of the Year honours.
For the first time in the 28-year history of the award, the judging panel was unable to separate the medal-winning performances by Jess and Cate.
Jess, who captured her elusive Olympic gold medal in the women's C-1 slalom canoeing final in Tokyo after earlier winning bronze in the women's K-1 slalom canoeing event, becomes the first four-time winner of the award.
Leading into the Tokyo Games the 27-year-old had won two gold medals and a bronze at two World Cup events in Europe.

She returned to Europe after the Olympics to capture the World Cup title yet again, before winning the Extreme Slalom gold at the 2021 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships.
Cate, who attended her fourth Olympic Games in Tokyo, claimed gold medals in the women's 4x100m medley relay and the women's 4x100m freestyle relay as the team broke their own world record and set a new benchmark of 3:29.69.
The 29-year-old, who carried the Australian flag in the Opening Ceremony alongside Patty Mills, also captured a bronze medal in the women's 50m freestyle.

Her coach Simon Cusack was named Coach of the Year for the second time.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic diver Sam Fricker was announced as the Young Athlete of the Year and Tokyo rugby sevens referee, Amy Perrett, was voted Official of the Year.
The awards ceremony also saw Sydney 2000 gold medallist Kerri Pottharst OAM and dual-Olympian Naomi Flood inducted into the NSW Hall of Champions.
